can physical therapy help with chronic pain?

Introduction: 

Yes physical therapy can help with chronic pain conditions, whether it may be back pain, neck pain, cervical pain, shoulder pain, ankle pain, or any other type of muscular skeletal pain. It is estimated that about 55 million people in America are living with chronic pain, also effects day today activities and psychologically disturbed like irritation and depression.

What is chronic pain? 

In human body pain can be of two types first is acute pain and the other is chronic pain, when you fall on ground or suddenly hit by an object the pain you will feel is termed as acute pain. Our immune system responded quickly for healing of acute pain and with in some days that pain disappear.

But the pain which remains even after 12 weeks is termed as chronic pain. When you try to move that body part and still feel uneasy or uncomfortable is defined as chronic pain. 

Managing chronic pain usually needs more than one approach for its treatment, but physical therapy should be the first choice of treatment as there  are no harmful side effects and irritation. 

There are many ways by which you can overcome your chronic pain, some of them are explained below

Along with manual exercises were performed by the physical therapist in such a way that helps to overcome chronic pain condition. 
Strengthening of the weak muscles and stretching of the tight muscles where also apart of the physical therapy treatment. As the chronic pain remains in the body into the weak muscles or tightness of a group of muscles. Therapist recognizes the part of body affecting by proper evaluation and so that treatment is focus to a specific part which is causing the pain.

2. Sound sleep

As we all are having a hectic and a busy life style schedule, so we used to compensate or compromises in a certain amount of things. Sleep is one among them and the other is not eating healthy food on time, irregular sleep or less amount of sleep can lead to increase the intensity of chronic pain so it is very essential and important to take a proper sound sleep for at least 6 to 8 hours per day.

What ever job you do just take a little break from your routine schedule so that the mind can be energised and recharge once again for a healthy living. Doing daily activity for long period of time can be sometimes boring and stressful with leads to development of chronic pain. So to overcome it just plan a holiday for week or enjoy the natural beauty along your city or nearby place

5. Medication

Non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs or painkillers along with muscle relaxants can break the continuity of chronic pain, also with that our immune system responses to counter attack chronic pain. Don't be depended on medicines for a long period of time, as the pain subside you can start exercising or involve in a physical activity on ground or backyard.

6. Guided supervision

Under the guidance of physical therapist chronic pain can be treated and controlled, do's and don'ts were properly explained by licensed physical therapist because there are some body movement which can aggravate pain so it is essential to understand the causative factor which is an important component of guided supervision.

Pain is a symptom that indicates that something is going wrong in your body, if there is a pain whether it may be physical or mental it leads to some sort  of anxiety that signals our brain and causes some tissue damage and harm. On reacting to that pain our brain becomes more focused on the problem that is creating pain, this cycle of pain continuous and some changes took place in the nervous system in response to that pain.
